History of Haldia (Chaldia)

Haldia has a very old culture and its history began almost at the birth of Rome. We know; a people named Chalybesians lived there. They were most warrioric people in Anatolia. After the Roman Conquest, empire developed the province.

After the fall of Roman Empire, Chaldia belonged to Byzantine Empire as a theme. There are two stories for the name of the province. The name may come from the old Latin and Greek, means blacksmith and iron or it may means the Supreme God ''Haldi''.

House Gabras ruled the province for hunderds of years and many times they started revolts. They gained their independence too. They fought against the Turks too well but they finally lost.

Since the Islamic Conquest the city couldn't develop but they produced most weapons of the Ottoman Empire. So today owned by King Emrecan and his followers the province as an independence state, as their grandfathers did, and promised to protect it. The Kingdom of Haldia has some farms and buildings and the kingdom wants to conquer all of the province one day.
